I'm a Cancer Nutritionist, and These Are the Foods I Never Eat

Nichole Andrews is a nutritionist who has worked with cancer patients for many years. She reveals the list of foods she never eats, to reduce her risk of developing the disease. Here they are and some are truly surprising.

A varied and balanced diet is a key factor in maintaining good health and reducing your risk of cancer. Dietitian Nichole Andrews, whose comments are reported by the Daily Mail, lifts the veil on the foods she never eats, to reduce her risk.

Alcohol

Nichole Andrews never drinks alcohol and recommends everyone else to do the same. In fact, she reminds us that no matter how much you drink, alcohol will increase your risk of cancer. In particular, alcohol increases the risk of ENT cancers, but also breast and liver cancers.

Processed meats

Cold cuts, bacon, hot dogs, and all processed meats often contain nitrates and nitrites, which are added to preserve them longer. These chemicals are associated with an increased risk of cancer, including colorectal cancer, so it's best to avoid them.

Sugary drinks and sugar in general

Foods that Nichole Andrews also avoids are sugary drinks, but also sugar in general. She explains that she does not consume sugary drinks because of the number of empty calories they provide to the body, which can ultimately promote obesity. " Excess body fat can increase the risk of 13 different cancers," she emphasizes. She therefore prefers to drink water or iced tea, without sugar. Similarly, she also avoids cookies, cakes, candies and chocolates, because of their high sugar concentration.

Red meat

The nutritionist reveals that she only eats red meat about once a week, and sometimes less, because of the increased risk of colorectal cancer. " Even if the risk is not as established as alcohol or processed meats, I prefer to avoid it," she says. She explains that she also favors other protein sources, such as chicken, fish, turkey or seafood.

The coffee

While coffee does not directly increase the risk of cancer, the expert prefers to avoid the sugar it may contain when it is purchased ready-made. She also invites everyone to think about their consumption of added sugar in their coffee(s), consumed throughout the day.

Refined grains

White pasta and rice are foods that the expert has also banned from her diet. " Whole grains will help you reduce your risk of colon and breast cancer, and they will also provide you with more fiber and nutrients because they are less processed." An optimal fiber intake also helps reduce the risk of cancer and have better digestion.

Plant milks

Finally, the expert recommends always choosing products made with cow's milk. "I always opt for cow's milk; I always choose dairy products that contain it and are rich in nutrients. "

She says plant-based milks are great options for people with cow's milk allergies, which she doesn't. That's why she prefers cow's milk, because plant-based milks lack these valuable nutrients, and these types of deficiencies can increase the risk of disease.

"If you like them, you can continue to take them, but I personally do not choose them because of their low protein content. Not to mention the fact that cow's milk reduces the risk of colon cancer," she concludes.
