For a woman in her fifties, it's almost a return to adolescence: you no longer understand anything about the skin on your face. It gets pimples, or is suddenly very dry; suddenly it has spots, or fine lines. Or sometimes, all at once!
From the age of 50, the body produces less of the collagen that gives skin care its elasticity. This is linked to falling estrogen levels and, of course, the menopause. Facial fat cells can also lose volume, making the skin appear thinner. Here are 5 tips to counteract the effects of middle age on your facial skin care. Fortunately, there's a solution for every problem! To stay fresh in body, there's Always Discreet; and to stay fresh in mind and face... there are our special tips for mature skin!
The "Must "* for caring for mature skin care
Mature skin care tip N°1 Choose the right products. Choose ingredients and textures that will respect your mature skin. Start your skin care routine with a cleansing milk; and use a gentle exfoliant, twice a week maximum, with natural acids to rid the skin of dead skin cells and help stimulate collagen production. Choose a moisturizer with vitamins (B, C and E), which will help repair and protect the skin; and natural moisturizers such as grapeseed oil, wheat germ or aloe vera. In the evening, add a more concentrated serum to this routine to help your skin regenerate overnight. If you have very dry skin, choose a product containing jojoba, argan or sweet almond oil. If you can, opt for a special night cream for mature skin over 50, containing antioxidants such as hyaluronic acid or vitamin C.
Mature skin care tip N°2: Nourish the neck. The neck is a low-fat area, so skin is drier and more prone to wrinkles. So look beyond the tip of your chin! Get into the habit of cleansing and moisturizing your neck morning and night with a suitable cream. At night, apply a skin care product that will keep the skin hydrated, repair sun damage and reduce the appearance of dark spots on skin over 50: hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, vitamin C.
Mature skin care tip N°3: Never go out without sunscreen, even in winter! Sun protection is a topical issue all year round. By the time we're in our fifties, our skin has already been exposed to the sun, but that doesn't mean we should stop protecting it - on the contrary. Choose UVA and UVB protection, with at least SPF30. Some sunscreen formulas are as pleasant to apply as moisturizers, and also contain antioxidants: the winning formula for skin over 50! Don't forget the décolleté: apply your sunscreen generously, with movements starting from the décolleté and working up to the jaw line.
Mature skin care tip N°4: Improve your technique. Don't over-cleanse, as this compromises the natural oils produced by the skin care. Instead of "stripping", and even in the case of imperfections, use a gentle cleanser, which you apply with circular movements, using your fingertips, for a good minute to stimulate the microcirculation of facial skin. Rinse with lukewarm water; apply your serum to skin that is still slightly damp. Wait until the serum has been fully absorbed before using the day cream, which you massage in from the bottom upwards and from the inside of the face outwards. The eye contour cream will help to reduce puffiness and dark circles around the eyes: apply it in small dabs along the orbital bone, from the inside to the outside.
Mature skin care tip N°5: Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! The more you hydrate your body, the more hydrated your skin will be. Choose tea and water rather than soda and coffee. Hydration can also come from food: cucumbers (95% water), fruit (91% water), lettuce (96% water)... Don't neglect fatty acids, which, like avocados, contain vitamin E and antioxidants that protect the epidermis. Oily fish such as salmon, sardines and mackerel, rich in Omehas-3, can help the skin overcome dehydration and retain its natural moisture content.
